Varying fitness routines ‘helps people achieve weight loss goals’

Those looking for tips on exercises that will complement their weight loss diets have been advised to vary their fitness routines.

Adding variety to an exercise regime is the best way to achieve weight loss goals, said Graeme Marsh, personal training manager for Virgin Active.

He suggested that interval training is the best form of exercise for those wanting to lose weight and improve fitness.

Rich Leigh, weight loss expert, and founder of fatfreefitness.co.uk, agreed that variety helps to provide motivation when it comes to exercise: “If you are doing the same thing week in, week out, session in, session out, there’s the opportunity to get very bored and disheartened with what you’re doing.”

He said that exercising outdoors is a great way to keep fit, especially now the weather is getting warmer.

Not only is it free of charge, but it can be sociable too if people buddy-up and train with a friend or two.

    I like to vary my exercise, i go to the gym 2-3 times a week but also go out running along the sea front a few times a week. I’m trianing for the Race for Life at the moment so running/jogging is all i’m doing for now 🙂 x

    I do quite a lot of exercise but it tends to be the same old thing. i might try to introduce different exercises within my exercise routine and see how i do.
