How to get rid of that gut, for good!

A nutrition expert has published a book aiming to help men get rid of their paunches.

Dr John Briffa told the Times that it is not just women who have weight issues – men have them too – but most diets and weight-loss clubs are aimed at females.

“The way men store weight around their middles is very strongly linked with heart disease and diabetes – the health problems are much more acute than for women,” he said.

His book, titled Waist Disposal, informs men to stop counting calories, but cut down on carbohydrates if they want to get rid of their guts, as it is these that create fat deposits around the middle.

Dr Briffa claims that following this advice for 30 days will not only result in a slimmer waistline but increased energy levels and feelings of wellbeing.

Earlier this month, a study by the Pancreatic Cancer Cohort Consortium revealed that those who carry fat around their abdomens are more at risk of developing pancreatic cancer.
