Low Fat Recipes: Toasted Sandwich

bltThought I’d share with you my all time fave toastie recipe, BLT! And it just happens to be one of our low fat recipes.

 

*Serves 1. Preparation time 5 minutes. Cooking time 30 minutes.*

Level: *

 

Ingredients:

1 tomato sliced

1 halved/deseeded  pepper (colour of your choice)

Shredded iceberg lettuce

1 level tablespoon of light mayonnaise

2 lean bacon rashers

black pepper *optional*

 

Low fat recipes don’t have to be bland and boring!

 

Method:

  1. Pre-heat the grill to hot
  2. Pop two slices of wholemeal bread into your toaster
  3. Once toasted, set aside
  4. Grill the pepper halves for 10 minutes
  5. Once grilled, transfer to a sealable plastic bag
  6. Set aside to cool for another 10 minutes
  7. Once cooled chop into thin slices
  8. Grill the bacon rashers on both sides until cooked
  9. Cut into large pieces and set aside
  10. Spread the light mayonnaise on to one slice of the bread
  11. Add the shredded iceberg lettuce, the tomato and the bacon
  12. Next add the slices of pepper
  13. Season lightly with black pepper *optional*
  14. Add the other slice of toasted bread and there you have it !
