Healthy Homemade Nacho Recipe

Baked Tortilla Crisps & Homemade Salsa…

 Chips and Salsa

Make your very own nachos, what’s even better is knowing they are HEALTHY! Follow this delicious, easy recipe and enjoy them at home!

 

Ingredients for tortilla crisps:

  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 packet flour tortillas 300g
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsps lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder

Ingredients for salsa:

  • 1 red pepper- diced
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 small onion- diced
  • pinch of salt
  • small bunch of coriander- chopped
  • 1 tbsp cold water
  • 250g tomatoes- diced
  • 2 mild chillies- finely chopped (optional)

 

Method:

  • Pre- heat the oven to 180C
  • Mix the olive oil and 2 tbsps of lime juice together
  • Cut each tortilla into as many traingular wedges as you like (This depends on the amount of crisps you want)
  • Arrange them in a single layer on a baking tray
  • Lightly brush on the oil/juice until moist
  • Combine chilli powder and 1 tsp of salt in a bowl
  • Sprinkle over the crisps
  • Bake in the oven for approx 7 minutes
  • When the time is up, be sure to rotate the tray and bake for another 7 minutes, until crisp
  • Whilst they are in the oven, prepare the salsa if you haven’t already diced the ingredients
  • Put the diced onion and red pepper in a bowl
  • Add the chopped coriander and the tomatoes, mix well
  • Next add the pinch of salt, water and lime juice and continue to mix well
  • Add the finely chopped chillies gradually
  • Serve the salsa warm and pour over the crisps or put the salsa in a small dipping bowl.
