Weight loss tips for the whole wedding party

Now that the summer is approaching, piles upon piles of wedding invites are being sent out and the recipients, bride-to-be and most other people involved in the nuptials will set themselves a mid-year’s resolution: Lose weight fast.

As the main focus of attention on the big day, it’s usually the bride who sets herself the strictest of weight loss plans, but which of them really work and which are utter rubbish?

Diet, diet, diet

One method that is reportedly adopted by a number of super-svelte celebs is the maple syrup diet.

Last year, supermodel Naomi Campbell revealed to Oprah Winfrey on her chat show that she sometimes drinks a cocktail of maple syrup, cayenne pepper, lemon juice and water in order to lose weight fast.

“I try to do this three times a year. The most I’ve ever done it for is 18 days. It’s good just to clean out your body once in a while,” she said.

Beyonce also told Oprah that she’d given the diet a go prior to the 2006 film Dream Girls and managed shed over 20 lbs before filming started.

Before her wedding to Russell Brand in India last year, pop sensation Katy Perry changed her eating habits.

Her personal trainer Harley Pasternak revealed to RadarOnline.com that the star prepared by eating five small meals a day, “each containing healthy fats, lean protein, fibre and a non-sugar drink”.

The main points to remember are to reduce portion sizes and cut out as many high-fat and high-sugar foods as possible. This may seem difficult, but think of how great you’ll look on the day of you stick to this.

Banish those bingo wings

Personal trainer Kristoph Thompson, who is also the fitness editor at Women’s Fitness Magazine, recommends brides-to-be do four or five cardio workouts a week in order to achieve weight loss.

These could include sessions down at the gym on machines such as the treadmill, rowing machine and exercise bike.

Those feeling really brave could attempt high-intensity fitness classes, such as spinning or boxercise.

He said that doing as many Pilates classes as possible will also help to improve muscle tone, so there won’t be a bingo wing in sight on the big day.

Cleanse from within

One weight loss method that you might not have considered is colonic irrigation. This colon cleanser could help you to lose weight in just a few weeks.

A colon hydrotherapist at the Detox clinic in Leeds said that people can experience an immediate loss of pounds as a result of the amount of waste and gas that is removed from their bodies.

She said that going for a course of between three and six sessions helps to rebalance bacteria in the bowel and reduces bloating, making people not only look, but feel better.

If all else fails, just cheat!
