Slimming ‘should be sustainable’
Dr Jacquie Lavin, a spokesperson for Slimming World, said that one of the hardest things about losing weight is finding the support to be able to carry on with the diet after hitting targets.
She stated that health can be significantly improved just by losing around five to ten per cent body weight and maintaining that figure, but the help must be there in order for that to happen.
"Once people do make the decision to take action about their weight it is really important that they find and choose a sustainable, healthy way of losing weight that offers ongoing, long-term support and advice," Dr Lavin explained.
Brian Wansink, director of the Cornell University Food & Brand Lab in New York and author of Mindless Eating: Why We Eat More Than We Think, recently suggested that the way homes are laid out could affect how much we eat.
