Sales of slimming products increase by a third
A survey conducted by grocery shopping and comparison site mySupermarket.co.uk found that slimming-aid brands such as Slim-Fast, Weight Watchers and Complan have also increased their product ranges to cater for this growing demand.
The data revealed that consumers in the north-west of England spend more on slimming products than any other region in the UK, with sales in this area increasing by as much as 32 per cent since 2008.
Jonny Steel, spokesman for mySupermarket.co.uk, said: “We anticipate that sales of these products will continue to grow, as adults see these products as one of the easier options to help them lose weight.”
Diet pills are also increasing in popularity, research published by Fat Free Fitness earlier this year revealed.
The company’s study revealed that a quarter of women have used fat loss tablets with two-thirds of these having bought their diet pills online in order to remain anonymous.
