People working long hours ‘tend to have poor diets’

People working long hours 'tend to have poor diets'People who have a job that requires them to work long hours tend to have poor diets and, therefore, could be physically unhealthy, Men's Health Forum has claimed.

Peter Baker, chief executive of the forum, said that the end of the traditional lunch hour has had a negative effect on workers' physical and mental health.

"We'd all be better off, and probably more productive too, if we left our desks or benches for a while at lunchtime to take a walk and have a change of scene," he added.

Mr Baker's comments follow the recent publication of a study in the journal Heart, which suggests that unfit men who work more than 45 hours a week have double the risk of dying from heart disease than males who work the same hours but exercise regularly.

He suggested that people do not have to go to a gym to lose weight or improve their fitness, as they can achieve this by walking briskly for a total of 30 minutes a day, five days a week.

Do your work hours hamper your weight loss goals?
