People ‘should not lose heart’ because of diet setbacks

People should not give up on their weight loss ambitions if they suffer diet setbacks, according to one writer.

Commenting in an article published by IBT Health, the Diet-to-Go chief editor John McGran noted that people’s diets may not always go as smoothly as they might hope.

He stated: “Rather than throw in the napkin and quit when a binge happens, pick yourself up, dust off the crumbs and climb back on the dieting wagon.”

Temptation is not something that will just go away overnight, Mr McGran went on to suggest.

“There will always be temptation,” he commented.

One of the reasons that people might want to lose weight is to reduce their risk of getting type 2 diabetes, Zoe Harrison, care advisor at Diabetes UK, recently said.

A combination of exercise and a balanced diet could help people to achieve this, she went on to suggest.

How can you ensure your diet goes to plan?

I ensure my diet goes to plan by making sure that I cut all all snacks, not matter how much I love them I always try and resist.

I try to cut back on the junk food like Elle but its hard when you go shopping and you just cant resist those naughty foods, so you pop them in your basket- theres to much temptation in the shops. This has got to stop!! Lol. REally need a way to stick to this,

I try to keep all junk food from the house. I put fruit bags in my kids’ pack lunch box instead of a chocolate bar…it helps them and me!

I find it very hard to stick to a diet- I say Im cutting back but then I endulge in something thats bad for me, I know I shouldnt but I cant hold back. I need to cut back on the snacking as this is the worst for me, I tend to find myself snacking on high sugar, high fat snacks during the day in the office and I really need to stop myself doing this. Anyone got any ideas?

I admit I am one of those people that when I am on a diet I go through setbacks and find it really hard to pick myself up again. I always end up binge eating and find myself back where I started.
