Jennifer Ellison loses 3st after pregnancyJennifer Ellison has revealed how she managed to lose weight after pregnancy.

The former Brookside actress has managed to lose 3st of the weight that she put on while she was pregnant with her son Bobby, Closer magazine reports.

Jennifer went from a size eight to a size 18 when she was expecting but, five months after giving birth, she is almost back to her original size.

“I just ballooned. I ate what I wanted and didn’t exercise, so of course I put on weight. I put on 4st. I was like a hippo!” she told the magazine.

The 27-year-old said that she shed the weight “the old-fashioned way”, by adopting a healthy diet and strict exercise routine.

This involved regular Pilates classes as well as running and boxing sessions with a personal trainer.

Overweight women hoping to shed a few pounds in order to conceive more easily have been advised to steer clear of weight loss surgery, as a recent study suggested that this can cause babies to be born blind.

These findings were published in the Journal of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.

    i lost my baby weight by going to the gym 3-4 times a week, eating healthy, drinking lots of water and cutting out all snacking.

    I lost my baby weight basically using the same kind of method- eating healthily, and exercise. Taken up running which I love and also started to cycle and walk quite a bit. The weathers awful at the moment which is restricting my exercise plan – but decided to buy an exercise bike which has improved my fitness dramatically.

    Well done Jennifer, at least she wasn’t stupid and lost all her baby weight with 2 weeks like most celebs! She’s set a good example to others that fret about their weight after having a child. I’m 5 months pregnant with my first child and have so far put on 1 stone, I’m not sure if that’s a lot to others but it’s good for me

    I felt like a hippo only after the birth of my fifth (yes FIFTH) child 😐 I never put on alot of weight during my other four pregnancys but for the fifth one I put on about 4 1/2 stone. After the birth, I started returning to the gym and just generally eating healthily and the weight fell off within a year. No more pregnancys for me now, but looking after five children certainly keeps me fit!
