Even a little exercise can help with slimming, doctor insists
A doctor has insisted that even a small amount of exercise per week could help a person to achieve their slimming goals.
Dr Frank Comstock, author of the book Anti-aging 101, said that 20 minutes of physical activity three times a week is best if you want to keep your body healthy.
However, he advised that it is possible to build up to this gradually if it feels like too much at first, even beginning with just five minutes twice a week.
"The key is to find something you like," Dr Comstock commented.
He recommended interval training as a good way of increasing stamina and said skipping, walking and even jumping jacks are good exercises to start a regime with.
However, the most important thing is not to give up, the expert concluded.
Earlier in 2011, new research from Taiwan published in the Lancet suggested that 15 minutes of exercise for weight loss each day could help to increase life expectancy.
