Raspberries could be the fruity solution to weight loss! New research has revealed that the sweet treats are packed with ketones, a chemical compound with triggers the release of adiponectin.  This ‘skinny’ hormone encourages the breakdown of fat, converting it into energy faster so you lose weight more quickly while regulating your blood sugar levels.  Like other fresh berries, such as blueberries and strawberries, they are also a good source of fibre, which the body needs to keep the digestive system working efficiently.  And because they help us feel fuller for longer, we’re less likely to snack between meals.

The Berry Blast Plan

Day 1

Fresh Start

Small bowl of granola cereal with a handful of mixed berries and 1 tbsp of natural yoghurt.  1 glass of unsweetened cranberry juice.

Lighten up lunch

2 slices of cooked chicken, half a bag of mixed salad leaves, red onion slices, 3 cherry tomatoes and 2 tbsp of couscous.  1 large wedge of watermelon.

Slim down supper

Stir 3 tsp of pesto into a 30g of cooked weight brown pasta with 4 chopped sundried tomatoes.  Sprinkle with 1 tsp grated Parmesan cheese.  Serve with half a bag of mixed salad leaves with 1 tsp of oil free dressing.

Go to snack

Blend together 1 carton of natural yoghurt with 3 tbsp of grape juice and a handful of raspberries.

Day 2

Fresh start

Cheese and herb omelette made with 2 free range eggs, 1 tbsp of low fat grated cheese and a handful of fresh parsley.  2 plums.

Lighten up lunch

Blueberry, cucumber and feta salad:  dice 1 small peeled cucumber and toss together with with 3 tbsp of blueberries and 60g of feta cheese, crumbled and drizzle with 1tsp of oil free dressing.  2 oatcakes.

Slim down supper

1 salmon fillet brushed with olive oil and grilled for 10 minutes.  30 grams of cooked weight brown rice , 2 tbsp of salsa and half a bag of mixed salad leaves with 1 tsp of oil free dressing.

Go to snack

1 tub of natural yoghurt with a handful of raspberries and 1tsb of honey.

Day 3

Fresh start

2 rashers of lean bacon, 3 mushrooms, 3 cherry tomatoes.   1 glass of unsweetened grape juice.

Lighten up lunch

1 wholemeal pitta with mixed leaves, cucumber, pepper and red onion, 3 tbsp of cooked prawns.

Slim down supper

Toss together 1 small bag of spinach leaves, 1 small sliced red onion, a handful of raspberries and a handful of walnuts, and 40g of blue cheese, crumbled.  Drizzle with 1 tsp of oil free dressing.

Go to snack

1 small bowl of blueberries topped with 1 tbsp of natural yoghurt.
