Corrie stars ditch Betty’s famous hotpot for the new 5:2 diet craze!

BETTY’S famous hotpot has been replaced with the 5:2  fasting diet!fasting

Several cast members have jumped on the 5:2 diet bandwagon – which involves eating how you would normally for five days a week and fasting for the remaining two days.

Ian Puleston-Davies, who plays builder Owen Armstrong on the soap, has lost a stone which has resulted in several other cast members now trying the diet out.

Mikey North, who plays Gary Windass, said: “Everyone’s doing this diet at the minute. Ian is obsessed with it – he’s lost a stone in about a week! He tells everyone.

“So the joke is whenever we see Ian on the monitors at work we have to go over and say, ‘Ian, have you lost weight?’

“He absolutely loves it!”

Cherylee Houston, who plays Owen’s daughter Izzy, is also a fan and says she has been on the diet for six weeks.

Cherylee, who uses a wheelchair, has a form of the rare painful tissue disorder Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and finds the diet helps manage her pain.

She said: “A few of us are trying it.

“I started it for weight loss, and then after a week I discovered I didn’t want to get into my jeans that much that I couldn’t eat.

“But then when I looked back I realised the fasting had changed my pain pattern a lot, which is amazing.

“I’ve been on it six weeks or so and it’s massively elongated the period until I crash.”

The revolutionary diet plan, created by Dr Michael Mosley, has proved a huge hit with weight-conscious celebrities.

This Morning TV presenter Phillip Schofield lost half a stone in a month whilst following the plan and comedian Dom Joly lost a whopping two-and-a-half-stone in three months.

J-Lo, Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow are amongst some of the Hollywood A-listers who are said to have given intermittent fasting a go.

On the programme, dieters eat what they like five days a week, but twice a week they restrict their calories to 500 a day for women and 600 a day for men. On the ‘feeding’ days you can eat whatever you like. However as the stomach shrinks on the ‘fasting days’ most dieters, rather than feeling a need to gorge, found that they were happy to consume around 2,000 calories — the recommended daily intake for women (2,600 for men)

Cherylee – currently in a dramatic storyline in which Tina (Michelle Keegan) threatens to renege on their surrogate baby deal – said: “The diet is about allowing your body to replenish itself.

“Our bodies weren’t really designed to eat three times a day continually. We need down time.

“And what everybody is saying is that, after they’ve done it for a couple of weeks, they get more energy.”

To make the two ‘fasting days’ easy we at Slimming Solutions have formulated a great tasting Meal Replacement Shake that has only 220 calories per serving, but contains 100% of your daily recommended essential vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, with high-quality proteins to provide sustained energy and the appetite satisfaction that your body needs.

The 5:2 fasting diet is certainly proving to be a hit with the celebs, will you be giving this a go?
