Since the discovery of the amazing super fruit Acai Berry, many research studies have been carried out to discover how great this product really is.
Acai Berry has a long history of usage in Brasil and the Amazonian Caboclo tribe found the fruit to be an essential part of their daily diet. Research has found that natives of this region use acai berries consistently and have made the fruit approximately 40% of their diet. As a result of doing this, they are very healthy and contain far less harmful toxins compared to those that live in Western countries. This research study is therefore encouraging people in Western countries to incorporate acai berry into their daily diet for similar results to their health as natives of Brazil.
The research on Acai Berry has been demonstrated to contain essential nutritional benefits.
Research has found antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and cardiovascular benefits all within this one peice of fruit. In addition to the above, acai berry has shown to be rich in Vitamins A, B1 (Thiamin), B2 (Riboflavin), B3 (Niacin), C and E (Tocopherol), Iron, Calcium, Potassium and phosphorus which together help contribute to good health.
The high amount of antioxidants has shown to be one of the great benefits of using the fruit. Through research it has been proven that the fruit contains 30 times more antioxidants than is found in red grapes, which is far more than any other fruit or vegetable. This is one of the leading reasons why it is highly recommended.
Another research study has proven that the cardiovascular benefits are due to acai berry containing essential omega fats. This helps lower the chance of cardiovascular disease, blood clots and arteriosclerosis.
Research in Brazil focused on the amount of fibre acai berry holds. The study found that it can be successfully used to treat digestive disorders and is now commonly used in Brazil.
Acai has been reported to contain cancer fighting properties. Research was carried out in the University of Florida in 2006, this involved testing leukemia cells with the extracts of acai berry. Results found that 4 extracts out of the 6 which are contained in acai berry triggered a self distruct response in 86% of the cells tested and further killed a significant number of the leukemia cells. This amazing discovery was published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.
With these benefits as a result of using acai berry it is no surprise that is it being referred to by doctors as the ‘Number one Super-food in the world’.
